Anyone else feel that the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix film was a m!

Question:

Anyone else feel that the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix film was a massive letdown?

I personally feel that it is the worst Harry Potter film so far. It was still good but I felt it was a massive letdown. For those who have read the book, the film will be harder to watch as you see scenes cut, storylines reworked, locations changed, plots re-ordered and sub-plots missing. All of the necessary Harry Potter elements have been removed.

The major problem with this film is its running time of 138 minutes. It's too short. It's the shortest made so far but it's the biggest book. That to me makes no sense.

Some of the scenes that were cut that I was looking forward to seeing was St. Mungo's (the hospital), Careers Advice (where Harry talked to McGonagall with Umbridge watching), more detail at the Ministry of Magic including the telephone voice, Arthur's office and where is the rest of the Department of Mysteries? This was the biggest let down of the entire movie. WHERE THE HELL WAS IT? There was only the orb room and some rock room. Come on movie makers, make no6 better

By the way, I live in Melbourne, Australia and saw the movie at 9:30am July 11, 2007 GMT+10 so i'm among the first of the public to see the movie in the world.

Also, David Yates directed movie 5 and has also been signed on to direct movie 6 :(. Chris Columbus and Mike Newell were the best directors.

Answers:

I have to agree with a lot of you on this fifth movie.

It is important to note that not only did the director change, but the screenwriter as well. There was a different screenwriter for the Order of the Phoenix than for the first four films.

As a movie itself, I thought it was interesting. However, based on the book, I too felt that it was missing a lot of important plots and subplots (a lot of which are mentioned above).

I was a bit disappointed that a lot of the new characters weren't properly introduced. For example, I was disappointed that Tonks wasn't really mentioned in the movie, although she happens to pop up around a lot. Also, I felt like a lot of the other characters weren't given a lot of screen time. That is, I felt that other characters roles were downplayed and so forth.

I did enjoy the woman who played Umbridge. I thought her portrayal of the character was wonderfully done.

Once again, if the movie was a stand alone movie, I thought it was interesting and well done. However, it was supposed to compliment the book, and I felt that it didn't.
