What was the plot of prarie home companion?!

Question:

What was the plot of prarie home companion?

I watched it but didn't understand it. Can anyone explain it.

Answers:

The main plot line was that this was going to be the last show ever performed of the Prairie Home Companion, a radio variety show with musical events, play acting and the classic jingles of lesser known products (powdered milk biscuits, rhubarb pie, etc.). It was a matter of getting to know all the people who had made it a success and who had made that particular stage and crew a home and a family. The movie also threw in the novelty of getting another generation of a family (Lindsay Lohan) interested in the premise of the show.

Garrison Keillor is the main event though, espeically with his "Stories from Lake Wobegon" and his smooth creamy voice that just makes you feel warm and comforted inside. He has a classic radio voice that you hear and just know if you've listened to the radio program.

It was mostly meant to be a comedy with some fluff thrown in there, and it goes through a lot of life events and problems, too (i.e. death, starting out again, teen angst, seeing and old lover again, etc.). It's about the music, too. If you've ever listened to the Prairie Home Companion on the local Public News and Entertainment radio station, you know the fun of the little jingles they made up for the sponsors, and the play acting they would do, etc. The best jingle is for Rhubarb Pie. My mom and I sing it from time to time, and it brings back memories of when she'd blare the show on the radio when we were riding in the car. It's just more commercialization of the show, bringing it out of radio onto the screen. Contrary to the movie, the show does still play on Saturdays from 5 tp 7 p.m and Sundays usually from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Central timezone. It's just good clean fun. Watch it again if you can, I hope you enjoy!
