What the heck does a "punch up" mean in movie editing?
I'm reading this interview with Patton Oswalt on The Onion (see link) and they keep mentioning punch ups? I've had no luck googling it.....

Answers:
A 'punch up' means that editing has been done to improve the pacing or visuals of a particular scene to add excitement or tension to what might have otherwise dragged or might have not been long enough in the original unedited shot.
