Which movie is scarier, the ring or the japanese version ringu?!

Which movie is scarier, the ring or the japanese version ringu?

I really enjoyed Ringu even though I don't typically like foreign films. I believe Ringu was slightly more scary or at least I remember being startled a little more often. I think Japanese filmmakers really know how to build up suspense with the timing of the film. Or maybe it is that they don't usually have too much talking when they are trying to build up to a scary part. Or maybe it was because I saw The Ring in the theater with a bunch of inconsiderate talkers who don't seem to appreciate the fact that I didn't pay $9/person to listen to them yap - it is to listen to the actors. I watched Ringu from the privacy (and quiet) of my own home. :o)
