It's a movie based on the premise that as many people that exist, that's how many worlds there are.
In other words, each of us is so different, being able to just ride around in ONE person's head is such a trip, because their point of view of the world is alien to your own, especially someone as eccentric and brilliant an actor as Malkovich (t or no t???)
Being him was a great adventure, and made them realize their own lives were paltry in comparison.
Like "Flowers for Algernon," ordinary, untalented people got a chance to be the opposite...and they (and Malkovitch himself) realized eventually that an experience like that was transforming, and so intense...
It couldn't last forever, and you paid an enormous emotinal price for the whole "heady" joy ride...
