Any know the name of this movie?
aliens destroy earth by accident, and because they try to save as many they can they create a habitat of some sort where they transfer as many people as possible in the last moments before the destruction
the story shown :
people arrive at this mysterious, weird place do not know why or how they got there, the people who already arrived sooner struggle for survival and power, it is the story of this mixed crowd stranded on this new "land", there is also 1 alien there he was coincidently on earth at the moment of destruction

It does sound like Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy., but some of the things you mentioned weren't in the movie. Only two people from Earth survive, plus an alien. And they have to travel the universe to find out why and get the planet restored.
