Trying to find a actors name.?

I am trying to find the name of an actor i can only remember bits and peices of the movie he was in i think he was a writer and he was investigating a murder. And he would remember some things from the murder when he was a child i can see the actors face but i dont have a name he kind of reminds of ray litotta but its not him he is alot skinner. He would like have flash backs in trying to solve this murder i want to see the movie again but i dont remember the name of the movie nor the actor who played in it can anyone help? I think the movie was made some years ago but not sure.

i found out the name of the movie it was evidence of blood with david strathand(sp) however u say his last name thanks for helping out though.

The movie sounds a lot like "Frailty." You can look up that movie on IMDB and see if it might be the one and then determine who the actor is...
