Movie Buffs, answer!?

I am about to watch Fellini's La Dolce Vita for the first time. Is there any pre-watching steps I might want to do or any preparations or moods I should want to be in to make it a great movie expirience?

I'm a film buff, and a big fan of Fellini's work, but "La Dolce Vita" isn't one of my favorite films. There were a few set pieces that were enjoyable, but I just had a hard time trying to connect with this film. Maybe it was just my frame of mind at the time. I'll probably get around to rewatching it someday.

At any rate, buy some wine of your liking, down the better part of the bottle before beginning the film, and have some cheese and crackers on hand. Maybe even a little smoked salmon, and some candle light.
