Do those hd dvd movies and blue ray disc really playback as good as their advertised?
Answers:
They look great. They sound great. It does what it says it does. And although they're currently more expensive, I think you have to account for two factors.
1) All new tecnhology starts expensive, even DVDs were pretty pricy in the 1990s, although few people had a DVD player bak then to remember. Prices will eventually fall if you want to pick up more titles at a cheaper price.
2) You're getting the benefit of forward thinking technology. Would you rather have Spiderman 3 on DVD, or for a few bucks more get a version you know will be better forever. It would be like buying a VHS tape after knowing you can get a DVD. Why scrimp on a few dollars for an inferior product?
