About daniel radcliffe?!

Question:

About daniel radcliffe?

doesnt it sound lopsided when the actors and actresses though not being that educated ,their maximum education is holding a graduate degree, get paid endlessly whereas on the other hand people working night and day ,studying hard , competing hard enough to get into some good university r just not sure that they would be payed handsome salary or not. and also making it into a good company cant provide u as much money as these actors get .Actors do all dirty work in movies, just learn the scripts ,do some stunt scenes, their hardwork is based on regurgitation of things in artistic way that's it .look at daniel radcliffe just 18 and will be payed 100milion dollars for just acting ,it makes no sense.it would have made sense if he would have done something extraordinary for welfare of the society.what do u feel abou this?

Answers:

1) less than 1% of actors get this money you're talking about. the rest get paid a pittance. example: west end performers get £400 - 600 a week. that's eight performances a week for as long as the run, or your contract, goes on. outside the west end the average is £350

2) actors and actresses generally are educated as much as non-actors. drama and dance schools are the equivelent of uni - they have to study as hard as people at uni and they come out with qualifcations that are equal.

3) JUST learn scripts? Do you know how tough learning lines can be? And learning lines is just the easy part - you have to create a character and almost become them (the way they walk, talk, sit, stand, even think - you have to recreate it every night)- it requires talent, endless hard work and it's exhausting if you get it right.

4) daniel radcliffe is the exception to the rule - he's the star of films that rake in millions, not to mention the fact that he's reluctant to do the rest of them and they're trying to persuade him to stay. I agree he's getting paid a stupid amount of money, but please don't think all actors get that!

5) actors work long hours - it's perfectly usual for film actors to get up at 5am and not get off set until 9 or 10pm. Weekends and holidays don't exist. In the theatre you get Sunday off but that's it.

6) you talk about other people competing hard .... umm ... hate to be the one to break it to you, but the whole acting industry revolves around competition! Auditions are tough (and you're lucky if you get as far as auditions) and even if you get the part, it can still be taken from you if you do something wrong. And then - you've heard of upstaging? Technically, it means when an actor starts walking, or places themselves, upstage of the other - forcing the other actor to turn away from the audience. But that's only one kind - there are all sorts of tricks for making the others look bad and they exist because of competition!

7) it's tough in other ways - if you're late to a rehearsal (no matter what the reason) you can be fired. There's a saying: "the only excuse for not turning up to a rehearsal is a funeral. And you better make sure it's yours". Even if your mum has just died in your arms or you have the flu - you still have to carry on. "The show must go on" isn't just a saying.

It's ok for you to not understand just how much work goes into it all if you aren't an actor yourself - but don't despise an industry before knowing the facts

P.S: I'm training to be in the business and most of my family are actors so I know what I'm talking about!
