Why Wasn't Black Snake Moan A Hit?
Oh my god.. this was one ofthe best movies i have ever seen. Also I think one of the best of Samuel L. Jackson's work. Why didn't this movie attract enough attention?
It also sucks that Snakes on a Plane got more attention then this?
Answers:
There were three factors why Black Snake Moan did not succeed
1-The studio gave it limited print ads space in the newspapers-since a white girl chained to a black man was not as PC these days
2-It did limited business in the Southern USA . There is a stronger film market in the Southern states. A friend who is a film promotor said many theaters would not touch Moan, So the theaters that did buy the film, ran it late evening shows only if they bought the film and it left theaters a week after it arrived
3-Christina Ricci & Sam Jackson last films where Either was the star were bad box office business (for Sam only Snakes, Farce of the Penguins) . These two actor seem box office poison
so many could not sell this film. That new sam Jackson film 1408 also has been bad business at this time
and I liked it
