What do movie critics base their ratings on?!

Question:

What do movie critics base their ratings on?

because i always seem to disagree with them

Answers:

It depends on the critic. Yes, it's always their opinion; but some critics look for certain things in any movie they watch and judge it based on those qualities they're thinking about in their heads. For example, some critics pay more attention to the acting in a film, others focus on the film's artistry, and several explore the depth and interest of the overall storyline.

But, sometimes, I think critics are playing to a certain audience and they know what those readers want to see. Or, perhaps, they relish the idea of being a cultural judge, so their comments could be taken as artistic snobbery. That might be why you find yourself disagreeing with them.

I generally don't read critics' reviews because I, like you, find myself disagreeing with them (most of the time, but not all). I've seen some movies critics blasted but I ended up liking it; and most movies the critics praised I thought were ridiculous.

Cheers!! :)
