Harry Potter Movie-book "levicorpus" disconnection?!

Question:

Harry Potter Movie-book "levicorpus" disconnection?

Did any one notice that the "levicorpus" spell shows up in the 5th Harry Potter Movie (when Luna uses it on a Death Eater), but Rowling did not even mention that spell until the sixth book, when Harry learns of it from Snape's old potions book? Do you think they did that on purpose to see if people would catch it, or did they actually make a mistake? How could Rowling have allowed them to do that? Thoughts, comments, concerns?

Thank You

Answers:

I totally noticed that, it stood out for me. Actually, the first time we see the levicorpus spell IS in the fifth book, James uses it on Severus in the pensieve memory, but since the incantation isn't mentioned in the memory, we essentially don't know about levicorpus. So in other words, you're right, Rowling mentions it first in the sixth book when Harry learns it from Snape's old book...

Yeah, i was pretty disturbed that they used it in the movie though, like at the D.A. and stuff, because for one, Levicorpus is supposed to be a non-verbal only spell (check book six)

Secondly, it doesn't make you hover on your belly like a skydiver, as portrayed in the movie, In the book, levicorpus is said to have the victim suspended by one ankle in midair.

And also, you don't really control the victim as seen in the movie, you perform the spell, and they just hang there, and the only way for them to get down is to mutter the counter-curse, not by moving your wand away!

Well, it's obvious that they put it in the fifth movie on purpose, I seriously doubt that they would make a mistake like that. I mean, the film crew, and producers, etc. have read the book just like us, maybe even more, they know EXACTLY what they're doing, and i don't think they would purposely put that in there to see who would notice, of course every book fan would, theres really no reason to...

I don't know why Rowling let them, I am totally baffled as to why on earth they put that in the 5th movie, but whatever....
