What did you guys think about the new Harry Potter movie?!

Question:

What did you guys think about the new Harry Potter movie?

Did it have too much stuff or too little stuff?

Answers:

Too little! So much stuff was cut out I don't know where to begin! No Quidditch! Harry never got banned from Quidditch and they completely threw out Ron's troubles with the sport! I was waiting for that! Neville's parents were gone! And Hermione's and Ron's prefect appointment was a big thing, as was when Harry caught Mrs. Weasley trying in vain to banish a Boggart.

No Peeves (again)! No bad date with Harry and Cho! And who decided to make Cho the rat of the club? That ruined her character in my opinion, I groaned in my seat when I saw her being dragged by the hair into the scene.

The twin's flight from the castle wasn't as good as it could have been. The fireworks were pretty, but the book described fantastic wheels and flying pigs and dragons. The movie only had one dragon and average-looking fireworks, and in my opinion it wouldn't be that hard to spruce them up.

It would have been nice to see Lockhart in the hospital, and showing Neville's parents would explain a lot to the audience, and it would have showed the audience why Potter was taking Occlumency because they suspected Voldy could posess him. Rather, they rushed Harry down to Snape's office and Snape hurriedly told him what they were doing and why.

Sigh...I could go on for a while about the omittances...

But acting-wise, they are getting a lot better. Especially Umbridge, she was so delightfully evil and humorous at the same time, it was great. And Daniel is getting better. And Voldemort's actor (can't remember the guy's name) makes a great villain.

The special effects were also superb, as was the musical score.

So all in all, I'd give it a 8/10. The acting was great, the effects were great, and the music/sound effects were great, but so much was cut out that you will have had to read the books to understand the plot, and fans of the book will surely be disappointed by the movie.

Take a tip from Peter Jackson, he managed to get most of the Lord of the Rings books into very successful movies (RotK won 11 Oscars!), even in they were long.
