CGI question?!
Question:
CGI question?
I'm not sure which category to place this in, but here goes:
Why is CGI more expensive than doing stunts? For example, why was Transformers more expensive to make than Live Free or Die Hard?
Answers:
Every little detail and movement of a CGI character has to be planned, designed, and programmed into a computer. This takes a large crew of artists and animators. Watch the credits and see how many people are listed under design, effects, animation, etc and consider what it costs to employ them for a year or two. There's also a warehouse full of high-powered computers running expensive software to render it all.
And they still have all the expense of filming live actors and real stunts, props, sets, and effects.
