What film/tv series was this?
There is a film/tv series i watched quite a few years ago that i loved and would like to see again but i cant remember what it was called.
It was about a man (a detective i think) who was staying at a hotel. Outside his room was a gallery of paintings, one of which was of a beautiful woman from the very distant past who once lived in the hotel. He fell in love with the woman and discovered a way of transporting himself back in time. He was only able to do it a few minutes at a time but managed to train himself to do it longer and eventually made it perminant. While he was back in time he met the women from the painting and they got married etc, but one day he got pulled back to his own time and couldnt get back to her. In the end of the film/episode they find him in his room dead, and find out that he had died of a broken heart.
Does anyone have any idea? Does it sound familiar?
Please help as i am always thinking of the film/program and it really annoys me when i cant think of it.

It may be an episode of either The Outer Limits, The Twilight Zone, or Tales From The Darkside!
But, I'm pretty sure it's "Somewhere in Time" (1980) with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour!
