Please help me with this scary film title?

about 15 years ago (when I was 10) I watched a scary film, I still remember it to this day as it scarred the pants off me and I
have no idea what it called.
I THINK it started with an old couple, one poisned the other in a cup of tea. years later a famaily moved into the house and awful things started to happen. Their cat was found with its head hanging off in the window in an upstairs room, a severed hand was found in the fridge and at a childs birthday party, sat round a table in the kitchen, the pipes burst above them and blood came out covering everyone.
Thats all I got, please help me!

I was at a friends house with her older sister who made us watch it.

iam sure it was a t.v movie you watched.one movie used to be screened each week on itv(sat or sun night),this was called "hammer house horrors" and each one had its own sub-title,but i have no idea what that one was called.there were more good showings like a classic vampire story which starred gareth hunt(nescafe ads) who died recently.ive talked about that story to loads of people,but no one ever remembers it,so now i know i didnt have a crazy dream cause you watched it too.PEACE AT LAST
