What is your interpretation of the Japanese movie Suicide Circle (2002)?

Also known as Jisatsu Saakura. I'm wondering what everybody thoguht about the movie regarding the music group and what exactly they were trying to bring out. They haven't released the sequal in the states yet so I'm just curious about everyone's opinions.

It was a really great horror film. No one's seen it?

I just saw it last week and it was totally bizarre. I'm wondering if anything was lost in the translation because I didn't understand why the kids would all treat the suicide club thing as a joke. Also the "skin ribbon" thing? What was that all about?
