What was the movie "long distance" about? The end was confusing.?

i totally didnt get the end of long distance, the movie came out in 2005 and i just watched it...who can tell me what just happened?

"The true story is revealed in the last 5 minutes, and you realize the rest of the movie has just been happening in her head. The detective who has been guarding her turns out to be her ex, and the female FBI profiler turns out to be her therapist. Her ex was reported missing as he was going to drive to his parents' home in Utah... the same place where the killer called from the first time. The real detectives even found a map where her ex had drawn a line of his route to Utah, just like the map the detectives had that showed the path of the serial killer who was heading toward Boston. They never showed Joe's face or who he was, I guess it was just her faceless id... but didn't that guy have a great voice for a serial killer? Very controlled and calm yet creepy"
