I think Star Wars was the best trilogy I ever saw in my life. I saw it when it first came out in the mid 70s, and I have watched it with my kids, and recently, with my grandson. I have probably seen the six movies 30 times, and would happily watch them again if someone came to my house with the movies in their hands. Good for you for standing your ground. You can like anything you want to.
