I have a DVD box set which comprises of Shadows, Faces, A Woman Under The Influence, The Killing of a Chinese Bookie and Opening Night. I don't think these are vehicles as you said. It's rather unfair of you to make such a sweeping statement without quoting which of the late great mans films you are talking about!
