Scariest movies of all time?

I've been trying to find a great scary movie. I love film, so I've seen just about everything on scary movie lists. I'm bored with being grossed out (think "Saw" and "Hostel") -- it's not scary. And I'm not excited about being told movies like "Jaws" and "Carrie" are scary. Sure, there are a few suspensful moments, but they're not scary.

A movie that scared the begeesus out of me was "The Ring." I couldn't sleep for days. I thought if I turned my head she'd be standing right there waiting for me (I was 24 at the time). I'm trying to get my hand on "With You", but it doesn't appear it will be released until this week.

Does anyone have a great scary movie suggestion?

Thanks for the lists, but I've seen all those movies, except "Evil Dead." I just got finished watching it and . . . it was . . . for lack of a better word -- lame. (Sorry. I'm not trying to be harsh.)

Also, can you tell me why "The Exorcist" was scary to you? I thought it was disturbing, but not scary.
