Question:

Random question...just wondering if anyone still has these beliefs...?

Well, with the new Harry Potter movie and book out this month there's a lot of talk about both, but does anyone remember when J.K. Rowling first start publishing and selling these books by the millions, that there were a certain number of people who believed the Harry Potter books and movies were "black magic"? If anyone still believes this can you answer and tell me why? I'm just a curious woman. : )

Answers:

Fear of things like magic goes way back. Heck Superman was hated because he had powers. The game dungeons and Dragons has had it's share of scare. Tom hanks 80's movie Monsters and mazes where he's a kook who believes the game is real and ends up killing himself sparked a whole fear that playing D&D was gonna make you crazy. Everyone who plays Grand Theft Auto will pick up a gun an kill people. Now there really was an alchemist named Nicholas Flemel (whose also mentioned as a prior of scion in the Da Vinci Code) . Quite likely there are other real names out.
Black magic? Moses threw down his staff and it became a snake. Why not Biblical magic. The phrase " thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" is a misquote. The original word is "POISONER" not witch. Kinda makes sense doesn't it.
