at the end of the movie, when he's listening to the tape recorder and his wife and him hear their dead little girl having a conversation with him... is that REALLY him, or is it the spirit/thingy from the room 1408? i got all confused, because the look on john cusack's face was like, evil kind of... idk. and remember the voice that told him, "even if you leave 1408, 1408 will never leave you..." or something like that?
i'm still lost. somebody help me.

no, my question is... his character in the final scene: is that supposed to be his character or the 1408 spirit in his body? i know that was his little girl... that scene crushed me. :(

I believe it to be his character. The look on his face made me think “wtf” at first, but then it dawned on me, the look was “See, I’m not crazy, I really did speak with our daughter”, as his wife didn’t believe him, hence the look on her face, which was shock.
