What are the characteristics that make a good and entertaining video documentary?

I'm planning on making a video documentary about "keeping love real" and i don't know how to portray this. I don't really understand the concept on how to make a good documentary. this documentary is for teens showing them that love doesn't mean having sex or giving sex and all that stuff. First off, the very concept of this documentary would certainly get people's attention.

Secondly, in order to make this documentary good AND entertaining, you need to have studied heavily in social science. But if you think you know enough to film this documentary, then here's my opinion.

Every documentary has a poll or statistics. Something that takes an entire population of the film's topic and bring out an "inconvenient truth" out of it.

For example, in the documentary "Super Size Me" they give a statistic on the 10 fattest cities in the U.S.A. Or they give statistics on which percentage of the U.S.A. suffers from obesity.

Interview as many young girls and boys as possible and get their stories on their failed relationships. Where did they go wrong? Did they get pregnant? Did one of them leave after having sex for the first time? Was the ugly a girl merely an idea of a joke for the guy's friends?

Insert as much truth because that's what people want. Get true stories and interviews. Then you can give out your opinion in the form of a "group's opinion". Speak for the people who disagree with the whole "sex-is-love" thing.

Interview old couples who have been together for years and ask how they were able to keep their love strong. Interview professionals who can tell you how to keep relationships strong. That includes psychologists, etc.

Basically, a strong documentary needs interviews, statistics, and above all, TRUTH. Your topic for this documentary is a good one, so put your soul into this.
