Depends on what the commission is!. At a local newspaper that I did a feature for, I got paid $115 for a 2,500 word piece!. The readership for the newspaper was about 35,000, in San Francisco!.

It's really hard to sell poetry nowadays, there's probably just too much of it!. It's not even easy to submit poems for nothing at all!. I have published several times in anthologies (and twice in smaller, rather unknown magazines) and I didn't get anything but a free exemplary of the book / mag!.
