Why are woman's magazines so dumb?!
Question: I enjoy reading but I have given up with woman's magazines. They're full of role models for chavs. They keep telling me that my life's ambition should be to get fake boobs with orange skin so I can get in a rubbish manufactured pop band so I can meet a footballer who's as dumb as I should be so I can make money by selling stupid stories about him every week. It's worse than the 1950s when women were told that they had made it if their husband bought them a fur coat. I walk up to the magazine stands but walk away in despair because there's noting interesting to read about than stories about idiots for idiots to read about. Why do magazine executives try to brainwash people into thinking it's all they should be interested in? They must be good at it if they sell so many magazines.

I don't know why. But I totally agree. Actually, I don't read women't mags (look, they've even got me typing "mags"), but teenage girls' magazines are awful junk, too. I'm only 18, and I've already been turned off by them and segued into political ones. Scary, no? About 3/4 of the magazine is advertisements or the magazine saying, "Try such-and-such" without giving a reason. Total bull!
Wait, I did share a woman's fashion magazine with my mom this past summer. It had a picture of a young woman wearing a green bubble dress, tall red stiletto's, and a giant gold purse. It sounds pretty, but it looked ridiculous together. Truly.
I think they're able to keep selling 'em because of so many of the advertisements' business. It's not going to stop, I think.
Agreed. If it helps, men's magazines are pretty stupid too.
Many women really are that dumb. It's sad but true, and I don't think it's caused by the media or magazines. I think too many women don't understand what feminism is all about and they have this sense of entitlement.
They seem to think that they should be able to act a fool, and just be handed everything they want because they have a vagina. They like these magazines because they reinforce that belief.
I dont read them i only read interesting magazines that help improve your home, there are far too many magazines talking about certain celebrities and they know the public are silly enough to buy such a magazine.

you need to change the mags you buy, try any of the following:
Vogue (all fashion and insprational ads and no bimbo interviews aimed at chavs, its all lies but its better then I want a man stories)
Psychologies, not a fashion page inside!
Crafts (by the crafts council and only availible from select book shops, the v&a museum and the craft council islington.)
the observer music monthly (out next week I think, free with the observer ) and culture which is free every week with the sunday times
Also the weekend which comes free with the guardian every saturday
there are more but cant bring them to mind at the moment.

its a reflection on the shallowness of today's society. its not just men setting unrealistic standards for women anymore. its like the women of today dont even wnat to strive for anything better than sitting around painting each others nails and talking about nothing other than britney spears or posh spice's [nasty[ fake boobs or wahtever it is that those mags are all about.

i recently bought company magazine
they had a section about advoiding muggers and what they look out for which i found interesting....
and what is wrong with being fashionable?
if you dont want to read it then dodnt read it.
ok only some woman mags are like that.i agree those ones are stupid.but there are other womans mags that actually have really good advice in them
