Teenagers in this decade?!
Question: Okay, I am seventeen so I am not trying to sound adult, but every teenager wants to become a celebrity: musician, actors or actresses, dancers, sports, etc.
Why aren't teenagers going to businesses or politics anymore? Is it because teens are just too lazy to use their heads now or is it television or is it the Internet?

Im a teen, and I want to be a doctor, or if not a scientist or a pharmacist.
i guess they want to be celebrities, because nowadays, there are a lot more teens in the media industry than there used to be. and now with Hannah Montana and all those other dumb shows, the even younger generation has many kids wanting to be celebritis.
I think it is all media influence, and im pretty sure its just the tv. they watch something on tv, and get more info about it online.

I personally think that question is absurd.
I know lots of people who want to become famous, but a lot of other people who want to be in the business world. And I can guarantee you that one of them will become very wealthy and become famous because of their rich business.
And that comment about lazy teens, may I be the one to remind you that until you turn 18, you are still a teen, therefor you are only insulting yourself.
Have you ever thought that people who are dancers and actors and sport players do it because they love it and because it is what they enjoy? I bet that most of them feel that the wealth and celebrity status is just part of the package, and that they're not just doing it for the wealth and celebrity status.
And lastly, I suggest you not blame the internet or the TV, because they are tools, not just entertainment. I would not be able to write like I do if I didn't have internet. Half the things I write about would not be possible without it.
i agree. teenagers think that THEY are awesome. they want attention and to be known. they'll eventually get over it.

There are so many reality shows and so many talentless people who have achieved celebrity staus for no good reason that everybody thinks they've got a shot at stardom. Skew the numbers and be successful at something else, unless, of course, you have some genuine talent. Good Luck!
Every teenager is at some point going to dream of being famous but usaully around jurnor or senor year that goes away. I am 14 and I really want to be an actress. I don't really care for being huge famous but I just want to be able do something I enjoy so much. If that just happens to be acting so be it.
I think many teens want to become a celebrity because it sounds like a glamorous life, and constantly that's what everyone is talking about (hollywood). However, i think thats a false statement-- I'm a teenager and I want to be a journalist. And being a musician, actor/actres, dancer, or a sports star takes a ton of hard work.

I don't want to be any of those. I think they are good as extra activities but I don't want to pursue that career. I play the piano and violin and I do swimming and track. But my goal is to become either a doctor or do something in the business world (hopefully at a high position!) I also think being a magazine editor would be amazingly fun!
