Old National Geographics...what to do with them....?!
Question: ...I have a large collection of National Geographic magazines from 1956 through 1994, and really don't need them anymore - but I hate the idea of putting them in the recycling. Any suggestions on what I can do with them?

I really do not know what to do with them. But I do know of a few people who have lots of them from long ago. If this is not something that you want to keep yourself maybe you could call a local library or school and see if this is something you can donate to them?
Your local library may take them--if they are in good condition, and if the library does not already have copies of those issues in their collection.
Many people collect NG magazines. You can probably sell the older ones at a flea market or by putting an ad in the classifieds of your local paper. The newer ones will be tougher to get rid of.
There is a Yahoo group called "Freecycle". If you join that group you can advertise the Geographics for giveaway.
At our local library, there is a free magazine rack where people bring their (good) old magazines and the magazines are free to whomever wants them.
Also, the Salvation Army store or etc, might be willing to take them as a donation. They can sell them for a small fee and help disadvantaged people in the community.
Donate them to a used book store or a library.Maybe a school would like to have them. The one from the early 1950's might be a collectors item.

These will all be collectors items eventually. Don't throw them away, hold onto them or give them to a thrift shop to sell.
ebay..sorted by decade
Try to sell it (e-bay) total collection or year by year.
Or use them on the toilet
A library, used book store, or a collector would all want them.
