Do you think VOGUE magazine is for materialistic women?!

Question: It certainly encourages materialism and brainwashes women into slavish consumerism and eating disorders.

Like hiphop, it's all about the merchandising--getting people to buy overpriced, stupid looking stuff that they wouldn't if it weren't "Fashionable."

I've always been an advocate of Gay Rights, but I still think it's a bad idea to let Gay Men decide what women ought to look like. And that's who dominates the fashion industry.

i think fashion magazines in general are for materialistic people,
they clearly don't buy them to read the intellectual articles.

but who said materiallistic is necessarily a bad thing?

Of course. To like fashion, you have to be a materialistic person.

ummm... open a recent issue and tell me where (on which page) the first piece of real writing starts and then when it is interrupted by 30 more pages of commercials. It is NOT a magazine, but rather a canned version of what women "should" look like in a world run by gay men.
EDIT: MARLA, you look smashing in your London F*ag trench coat... say, can you spare a quarter, sister ?

No, I think it's for women who are really into fashion. It's not about the models, but the clothes, accessories, what's in and out, etc. If a person doesn't want to read Vogue, they do not have to. I wouldn't say I'm materialistic because I enjoy having nice things. If I want to spend 10K on a handbag, I'm not asking anyone to do it for me. I worked hard for it, so I can reward myself how I see fit.

I've been reading Vogue since I was 13.

Edit-keep in mind that I donate almost 70% of my time to helping people in need, volunteering for charities, and helping people that are dying of a devastating illness. These things I do NOT get paid for.

EDIT-I love you DFA

Marla actually is a good person

Vogue is like an encyclopedia for fashionistas. You go through it to pick up ideas that you incorporate with your style. Hair dressers pick up tips from Vogue same applies to stylists, models, designers etc.
