I need a little more info about starting a magazine.... answers from people with!

Question: My team & I have already created a prototype, as well as started to copywrite and incorporate. I feel a couple steps ahead of the game because my grandpa has been in the publishing business for 50+ years and someone very close to me is a professor at a large university who teaches journalism and sends her students to larger magazines for internships. While i've had much advice from several people close to me about starting a magazine, I would still like to get input on a larger scale.

So I guess my question is:
What all is involved in starting a magazine. My team and I have low funds and that's been the biggest set back.... Is there anything anyone could recommend? We have the talent, the vision for this and people with the schooling and years in the industry backing us up, but we dont have any formal training. So please any advice or websites... anything at all would be greatly helpful!
Thanks so much in advance!

Keep your overhead as low as possible. the fewer expenses you have, the fewer ads you need to sell to at least break even. The longer you stay in the game, the easier it becomes to sell ads.
Only use glossy paper and full cover if you can afford it. You can never go back once you use gloss or full color.
To get clients, do some research and have an ad prepared to show the client. many companies would like to advertise, but are intimitated by the thought of designing an ad. most are not creative minded.
most important, hang in there. it gets easier all the time
