Online magazine good on resume?!
Question: My best friend and I are both journalism majors and she suggested getting some friends together to start an online magazine. It sounded crazy at first but after thinking about it, I think we can do it. The two of us have MySpaces where we keep up with regular blogs with numerous hits daily so we believe we could potentially create a successful magazine. We're going to purchase the domain name and everything. Now in the future, whether or not the online magazine is successful, could we perhaps use this experience on job resumes? Or would it just look like a dumb concoction by a couple of teenagers?

I don't think it would look dumb at all--quite the opposite. It shows ambition, drive, and initiative. If it ends up not being successful, perhaps you could find a way to talk about it in the job interviews to help close gaps in work history or list in in an "extra curricular" section of your resume. Personally, I might not list it as a job unless it generated income. Good luck to you!
Yes and no. For us we have to get published and we are going to have an online magazine as well. The "Published Tear Sheet" is the reason why we are going to print.
