How do I get some cool musicians to sign my guitar?!
Question: I would like to get my guitar signed. I'm wondering if sometimes there's just signings and if so how do I find out about these? Also, do people ever bring a guitar to a conert to get it signed? I imagine that would be a hassle since there's so many people, plus you probaly couldn't even bring a guitar in. I shoudl mention I live in Chicago so it's a pretty big market as far as getting good bands and people here. Also, I'm not really into huge mainstream bands so I imagine that should help my cause. I'd really like to get the guys from Afroman to sign my guitar, I also like Taj Mahal, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, etc.

I know of people who take their guitars to concerts. They usually show up really early and hang around the venue until they see the band/artist and have them sign it before the show (they put the guitars back before the show starts). Some also wait around the tour buses after the show -- that was they can leave the guitar in the car during the performance, and get it later after.
People also do take guitars to signings, you can find out about these signings on the artist's webpage. If you chat on their forums, there are other people who find out these things and let you know as well. Sign up for the e-mail list, that helps as well. Good luck!

If you really want your guitar to be signed, bring it with no hesistation and approach the guys of Afroman with respect.
