You have to be a writer before you can edit someone else's writing - and that's what magazine editors do. Your best bet would be to major in journalism and minor in fashion. Any aspect of fashion, not just merchandising.

first, make sure you can spell. any person looking to get into editing needs to have proper spelling and grammar
You will probably have to intern somewhere to get experience first. So go to a college that is good for journalists and they would have classes for you to take.
