Women's Magazines vs. A Woman's Age?!

Question:

Women's Magazines vs. A Woman's Age?

I read that as women age, their interests change from dating, boys, & sex (Cosmo) to married life, homemaking, & childrearing (Ladies Home Journal/Country Living/Better Homes & Gardens). Any ideas on what causes this?

What about the single mom, who still can't find a man (Cosmo effect), yet has the responsibilities of homemaking & child-rearing (LHJ/CL/BH&G effect)? Are they sincerely happy, or do they really wish for that special man? (like that Dr. Phil commercial showing a woman daydreaming and a guy falls out of a tree onto her car.)

I am assuming that all single moms are NOT men-haters here (although there may be a few). Thanks for all serious answers!

Answers:

In some countries it is generally accepted that a woman that is 25 is the limit of being considered "sexually viable" to men (a stereotype of men wanting younger women). Any older and society brands those women as too old or not ideal because of guilt by association (why didn't she get married at a younger age? something must be wrong with her to be undesirable).

So as women have fun with the dating scene they eventually realise their biological clock is ticking (and aren't getting any prettier) and stop being party-goers and start being serious about their lives. Hence the split between fashion mags and mother life mags.

Another thing to consider is seeing how many magazines and movies have an older handsomely chisled man as the star (think Indiana Jones, Rocky Balboa, James Bond, etc.) You just don't see that type of message sent by the media about women (especially pornography).
Society says...
Men get more handsome as they age (or at least don't get any less)
Women get more ugly as they age (rarely are women shown to be "mature" and attractive)
