The first issue of "Playboy" was undated, so that it could stay in newsstands as long as possible. It was published December 1953. Marilyn Monroe was the "Sweetheart of the Month" in it. Hugh Hefner bought the photo cheaply, because it was "too hot to handle" in 1953. It seems tame by today's standards. The magazine quickly sold out, so he rushed out a second issue dated January 1954. It had the first "Playmate of the Month". If you want the first issue of "Playboy", it will cost much money. If you want to see copies of the centerfold, check "Playboy" anniversary issues. The 25th and 50th Anniversary issues (January 1979 and January 2004) have small copies of all centerfolds up to the time they were published. Some issues have larger copies of it.
