Question:

I have a very antique cosmo mag, anyone know how to get it appraised and maybe sold.?

This mag was printed in 1896, it is not mint condition, however it is great addition to any collection. I wish I can find out the true value of the publications.

Answers:

Magazines, even those that old, often don't have a lot of value for collectors unless they have notable writers or artists in them. The best way to get this appraised to to find an antiquarian bookstore in your area. They should have guides and resources for doing an appraisal.

The key to selling is to figure out how to best reach the people willing to pay the most for your item. Of course, it's appraised at $10, it may not be worth the effort.

Ebay is great but tends to drive down the value of many items because buyers/sellers are not aware of their potential value. Articles that may only have value to collectors of very specific or specialized items (say, magazine illustrations or engravings by a certain artist, a particular writer, etc.) may use specialty auction sites or go through collector's bookstores (which will usually sell on consignment) or live auctions.

There are also various web forums for collectors of various types. Many of these have "sale/wanted" sections.
