Answers:

here is an article on the closing:
U.S. fashion magazine Suede, which lured Canadian editor Suzanne Boyd away from the top job at Flare magazine, is halting publication.
According to parent company Essence Communications Partners, Suede will go on hiatus after the April issue, currently at the printers. It will be the fourth instalment of the magazine, which is targeted at American women of colour.

"Although some of our most talented people have been working on Suede, it has become clear that more time and resources would be needed to further develop this brand," Essence chair and CEO Ed Lewis said in a statement Wednesday. "This decision will give us the opportunity to step back and reevaluate the concept and its place in the market."

Launched in September 2004, the pop-art-inspired magazine created a huge buzz in the U.S. magazine industry, aided by the flamboyance, enthusiasm and fashionista personality of Boyd.

However, the title, which was scheduled to become a monthly with the April issue, was unable to attract enough ad revenue to support its high production costs, industry watchers told the New York Times. The magazine is expected to have a 50 per cent chance at being revived.

Because magazines are famously expensive to start up and usually need a few years to develop an audience, the announcement came as a surprise. However, Michelle Ebanks, group publisher at Essence, told the Times that Suede had been "overwhelmed" by trying to go monthly too quickly.
