On a acoustic guitar whats the difference between two guitars if one has a spruc!

On a acoustic guitar whats the difference between two guitars if one has a spruce solid top?

There is the epiphone dr 90 and epiphone dr 90s, would it be worth it to get a refurbished dr 90s if its the same price as the dr 90?

I don't know what the dr90's top is made from, but spruce is an almost ideal combination of a good tone and durability(I have a beatiful Cedar-topped Seagull Artist, but I'm afraid to take it out of its case because the Cedar top is so soft, if I breathe on it, I'll ding it)- I'd go with the spruce.
