Wow - good question! I would say same reason people get an ant farm (which i would like to say I've never had)!. Universe is indefinite - stars are huge but look small to us!. Same thing with the bldg thing - those people are normal size - but look small to the people at the top!. It's another view/take on an otherwise normal activity!.
