Like irish jokes are okay, but not jews or black or mexican jokes!.
do people realise irish jokes were started by the English to make fun of the irish stubborness in defending themselves from English!. a lot of people died during that!.

You don't!. A joke's a joke!. Either it's funny or it's not!. People either take offense or they don't!.
You can rationalise it all you want, but bottom line is, telling an Irish joke is just as racist as telling a black joke or a jew joke!. The only issue is that people are more likely aware of the suffering of jewish people or black people, and therefore more people are likely to take offense!.
That doesn't change the issue of, either all race jokes are okay, or they all aren't!. You can't cherry pick which races you can joke about and which you can't!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Well, I suppose the english and the Irish are very similar really, most people in both countries have mixed british blood, I grew up in england as did my parents and grandparents but we have mostly irish and scottish blood in us, the same as the french!. if you took a traditional french person and english person, from looks alone you wouldn't be able to tell who is who so i don't think race is the right term there, only nationality, i suppose racial jokes are less acceptable because say with the english taking the piss out of irish the two are white, from the british isles and moreover on an equal stand point, if you are derogatory to another race then you might be implying they are beneath you genetically!. as for fat and blind jokes, well again that is none racially specific!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
The difference nowadays is that we have ' political correctness ' what used to be a ' pub ' joke among a group of friends it didn't matter what the subject was, the same jokes are now going to a worldwide audience via the internet and the people the jokes are about are participating as well and criticising also, so all ' racist ' jokes should be a no no, but because of the volume using Y/A it cannot be monitored instantly if at all, so it is left to us as questioners and answerers to monitor and report, not a job that anyone of us is specialist in, so you have discrepancies at all levels, as to an alternative system well yahoo wont do it, to expensive, so its up to us the users to police the system, but we must have uniformity which will need organising, any offersWww@Enter-QA@Com

The English poke fun at the Irish, Welsh, Scots, Americans and especially the French and Germans!. (How many aspirins does a German take for a headache!? 8!. One for each corner! - What's brown, crispy and dangles from the ceiling!? Irish electrician!) There are millions of them!.
Go to Germany and the Germans tell similar jokes about the Poles and Der Swabische (A cultural group in the Black Forest)
The Americans have jokes about the Polaks, Spics,Etc!.
All races joke about others in a way that puts themselves either intellectually or morally superior, no matter how preposterous that is in the case of Americans! (Joke!)
It is a form of tribalism, not racism!. It is often done in an affectionate way, oddly enough!.
In England we even joke about people from different towns (What do you call a Scouser in a suit/ The Accused!)!.
It's a form of bonding and cultural identity definition so cut your racist ranting and get a life you saddo or I'll get my thick mates from Ireland to beat you up!
I am part Irish, part Prussian and born in England with relatives all over Europe and America, I think I am qualified to speak!.

well, basically you can't make fun of a group that is outnumbered and hated!. if the group is basically plentiful and basically loved you can make fun of it!. but otherwise it's just too much to start cracking jokes about the folks who basically already been drilled into the ground!.
