A woman bought a plane ticket for herself & one ticket for each of her four children!. If she paid a total of $678 for all five tickets and each child's ticket cost half of the adult's ticket, how much did each child's ticket cost!.

Say x is the adult ticket and y is one kid ticket!. then 1x +4y=678
But also x=2y
So, make x=2y negative by doing -x=-2y
Bring the y over using the adding rule, making -x+2y=0
Then do elimination by canceling out the x's which are one and negative one!. Then you have 6y=678!.
Simplify that to y= 113
