The humor here is that it turns out that something is really just an advertisement!.

For example, a character who is feeling down sees part of a sign (maybe a truck is blocking part of it), that says "You'll feel better when" and they perk up, thinking that they are going to get some good useful advice about how to feel better, then the truck moves and we see the sign says "You'll feel better when you eat at Joe's"!.

Or say a character is stranded on a deserted island!. They see an airplane in the distance!. They think, "great, I'm going to be rescued now"!. Then the airplane flies over and it is pulling a sign behind it that says "Eat at Joe's"!. The airplane isn't a search party; they aren't going to be rescued, it's just an advertisement!.

That's probably not the best examples, but hopefully you get the idea!. An expectation is setup that something is one thing, when it turns out, it is really an advertisement!. It's not really funny, just more mildly amusing!.

Why always "Joe's"!? No reason!. Somebody picked this random name, and some other cartoonist just copied them and it kind of snowballed!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
