You are standing in line to see a movie!.5 more people are behind you in line than are in front of you!. four thimes as many people are in line as the # of people there are behind you!. how many people are in front of you in line!?

you're right there isn't enough information!.!.!. is it a trick question!.!.!. are there people at the side of you!? if there's always less people in front than there is behind then you cant get 4x as many as the people behind in the line for the total amount, you cant even get 2x :s hmmm somethings up here!.
if you start off by saying there's 5 behind you then there must not be any people in front so the minimum has to be 6 behind and 1 in front!.

that would mean what ever you have in the FRONT + 5 = BACK!.
With that, no matter what number you put in, you cant have 4 * BACK = Total
So, I think, instead of MORE, may be it's LESS than the front!.
Like:
"5 LESS people in the back than the front"
or
"5 MORE in front of you than behind you"
or May be it's wrong where 4 times Behind should have been 4 times in FRONT!.
If that's the case then it would work like this!.
12 People Total, including YOU
8 In the FRONT
3 in the BACK - (8 - 5)
1 for YOU
8+3+1 = 12
And 12 is equal to 4 x 3 (people in the back)

There is no mathmatical answer!. Lets assume there is 5 behind you x4 = 20 - you = 19 Then you have 7 in front 12 in back to give you the difference of 5!. Then there has to be 48 people in line total!. 12x 4!.

lets say x ppl are in front of you so x+5 ppl are behind you
total = x+1(you)+(x+5) = 2x+6
now, second line says -
total = 4* (x+5)(ppl behind you) = 4x+20
so, 2x+6 = 4x+20
=> 2x = -14 => x= -7

I think it's 15 in front because:

I don't think there is an answer i used an equation and i got -7 and obviously that is not possible! But if it were possible to have negative people then that would be the answer!.
