Question: Woman on the Bridge Riddle!?
During WWII, there was a footbridge connecting Germany and Switzerland!. The Germany side of the bridge was guarded by a German sentry whose orders were to shoot any German trying to escape over the bridge and to turn back anyone who was trying to escape from Switzerland without a signed authorization to cross!. He sat in the sentry post and came out every three minutes to survey the bridge!.
There was a woman who desperately needed to leave Germany, but she couldn't get a pass!. She knew that she could sneak past the sentry while he was in the sentry post, but it would take between 5 and 6 minutes to cross the bridge!. There was no place to hide on or under the bridge, so the guard would be easily able to shoot her if he saw her on the bridge escaping to Switzerland!. I gave Joey T a thumbs up as he explained the possibility very well but I differ in one point!. The woman would have walked for 3 mins towards Switzerland starting when the guard goes inside the sentry!.
Why so!?
It takes sometime between 5 and 6 mins to cross the bridge!. So in 2 mins!. she would have crossed LESS THAN HALF of the bridge!. Now, just before the guard appears she turns around!. So the guard sees that she has covered more than half of bridge (since the guard sees her coming from Switzerland) which is impossible as had she been coming from Switzerland the guard would have seen her on his previous round 3 min ago because it is NOT POSSIBLE TO CROSS MORE THAN HALF THE BRIDGE in 3 mins!. But since on the previous round no one was there on the bridge so the guard would think that the woman must be going out from Germany and would shoot her!.
Well, there is an underlying assumption on which my answer is based that the guard has got an idea, from his experience, about how long it may take for a woman like her to cross the bridge!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

the woman should walk towards switzerland for 2 minutes, then turn & head back towards germany, when the guard comes out he will assume the woman walking towards him is from switzerland and will send her back across the bridge as she does not have the correct papersWww@Enter-QA@Com
