ANs : those birds are fake birds/mere decorations and John is required to only "take" them down !.So ,he could simply climb the trees and pluck them off the branches or use a pole to poke them so they come off the branches!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

they could be dead birds, so you wouldn't need a net, or they could be flightless birds, so he just picked them up, they could have had their wings clipped so they couldn't fly!.
