Can anyone solve this math problem?!?!?!

Question: The first group of fishermen threw their fish into the container, counted them, and were surprised to learn that the average number of fish caught per fisherman was equal to the number of fishermen in that group.

A second smaller group consisting of three fishermen arrived and put their fish in the container with one fisherman putting in 3 more than twice the average of the first group, another putting in 2 less than twice the average of the first group, and the third fisherman putting in 12 more than the average of the first group.

When the attempt was made to evenly divide the fish among the whole group without dividing any of the fish into pieces, it was found that 2/3 of the fishermen received one less fish than the others.

How many fishermen in total were there and how many fish in total did they catch ?

there are 18 fishermen and 312 fish

15 fishermen in Group 1 with and average catch of 15 per fishermen which gives a total of 225 fish.

Group 2 has 3 fishermen

Fishermen 1 catches ... 3+2(avg of group 1)

Fishermen 2 catches... 2(avg of group 1) -2

Fishermen 3 catches... (avg of group 1) + 12

Fishermen 1 catches -> 3+2(15) = 32 fish
Fishermen 2 catches -> 2(15)-2 = 28 fish
Fishermen 3 catches -> 15+12 = 27 fish

Group 2 catches a total of 87 fish

Add the totals of both groups together
87+225 = 312

distribute the fish between 18 people giving each fishermen 17 fish
multiply 17 by 18 and you get 306 fish that have been distributed evenly, which leaves you with 6 fish left.

Give the 6 fish out and you are left with 12 people having 1 less fish then the other 6 which is the same as 2/3 having 1 less.

And there ya have it :D

hmm

I don't know,but how can you count with all that fish on board?

i hate math :(
