It takes my dad 6 hrs to ho a garden. It takes my grandpa 10 hrs to do the same !
Question: Today they have decided to work together.
How long does it take Dad and Grandpa to hoe the garden?
I can't figure this one out.. it seems like an easy question but I can't seem to get the correct answer. I need the answer to be in minutes as well.

Dad works at the rate of 1/6 th of a garden per hour.
Granpa works at the rate of 1/10th of a garden per hour.
Dad and Grandpa work at the combined rate of -
1/6 + 1/10 = 10/60 + 6/60 = 16/60 gardens per hour
This rate is stated as gardens per hour. You need know the INVERSE which is hours per garden. So -
16/60 gardens per hour = 60/16 hours per garden
60/16 = 3.75 hours
-or-
(3 x 60) + 45 = 225 minutes
about 3 to 4 hours im smart at math
8hrs
480 minutes
28800 seconds
4 hours
haha... how did you get 8 hrs.... he can do it in six on his own
if they do equal amount of work then one can do it in 3 hours, the other can do it in 5.
get the average of these....4 hours
3.75hours or 3 hours 45 mins
Exactly 5 hours!!!
Dad does 1/6 of a garden in one hour
Grandpa does 1/10 of a garden in one hour.
so working together (assuming this is not counterproductive!)
the fraction of a garden they can hoe in one hour is
1/6 + 1/10 = 5/30 + 3/30 = 8/30 = 4/15 of a garden
So they will do an entire garden in 15/4 hours, or 3 and 3/4 hrs.
480 minutes.
