Modern twist on the oldest riddle - can you solve it? 10 points for best, most t!

Question: A star explodes in the middle of outerspace and no one is around to hear it. Does it make a sound?

Answers: A star explodes in the middle of outerspace and no one is around to hear it. Does it make a sound?

There is no sound … the star is in outer space … no air or anything else to vibrate … thus no sound.

Unless, of course, you are in one of the movie or tv universes, then it’s amazing how noisy, and musical, it is even in the deepest most remote parts of space.

not sure

well, it doesnt matter if u can hear sumthing or not, i dont hear some old guy in china talking 2 his wife, but it still makes a sound, doesnt it? im pretty sure anything that explodes will make noise, so the answer is yes.

It makes a sound, but the sound waves are far too thin by the time it gets to anyone listening to hear it. But I'm not gonna sit around listening for exploding stars. Too busy.

sun or son

Don't get me started on this one!!!!!!!!!!!! Too late...
If this is in relation to "If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?", then here's a thought out answer, although I doubt if it shall be considered the best or what you want to hear:

This question seems to be more psychologically motivated, in other words, it doesn't matter if the falling tree makes a sound, or if an exploding star makes a sound for that matter, it's just a question that is posed to ellicit a response: A response of no (no sound) from those who are followers and not leaders, and at some point, realize the asker thinks the tree does not make a sound, and so they just agree with the asker of this question, regardless of the whether or not there is a sound.

Then there is the response of yes from those who are leaders and do not and will not agree with what apparently seems to be a very stubborn asker or incompetent asker, and the responder knows there is a sound, the only thing missing is the ear to hear the sound, and possibly also the brain of the asker of this silly question. At some point some of these responders who say yes, there is a sound, realize what the asker is really doing and are onto the scam.

Now, to update this riddle, to that of a star exploding, since it's in the vacuum of space and the deficient brain of those askers who truly believe in this question, there probably is no sound, or, at least not like the one that we hear on earth, like when we hear a tree falling. Perhaps there is a shockwave that can be sensed. This is really a question you'd have to ask a scientist for a more accurate answer. But, then again, the answer is the same as the old riddle, isn't it?

Riddle solved, next...

AGAIN, THE ONLY THING MISSING IS THE EAR TO HEAR THE SOUND.

THE POWERS THAT BE DON'T SAY AMONGST THEMSELVES,"HEY, THERE IS SOMEONE HERE TO HEAR THE SOUND OF THE TREE, SO TURN THE SOUND BACK ON!!!!!!!" NO, THE SOUND OF THE FALLING TREE IS CREATED, IF SOMEONE IS AROUND TO HEAR, THEN SO BE IT, IF NO ONE IS AROUND, THEN SORRY FOLKS, THE SOUND IS STILL THERE!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps, you should rephrase that question to, "If a star explodes in the middle of outerspace and no one is around to see it, did the star ever really exist? "

Of course, you would say,"No", while any rational or reasonable person would say, well, yes the star did exist, you just told me it existed, it couldn't have not existed if it exploded - something had to explode, and it was the star that exploded that you just told me about. And you just keep saying, "No" and letting the person you asked argue till they are blue in the face...

do you finally get it????? it's really a silly joke in a silly season.

most people would say there is some kind of sound or some evidence of the star exploding, so the asker is just asking a question where they "know" they are right and most people answering would be wrong, even though they disagree with the asker. HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RLH to the principal's office please!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry I beat Jerrys1960 to it, since I agree with RLH, there is no sound, since it's in space... You know, he's absolutely right, come on people, this was taught in elementary school.

It makes a sound its just that since the star is so far away the sound waves dont reach us. Its like some mad scientist causes a big explosion in china, we wouldnt hear it (well probably if u live near china) but if u were on th other side of the world. so you wouldnt hear the star explode.

i hate this riddle because it is not even a riddle. The answer is a simple no. Just because no one was around when the big bang or god created the earth doesnt mean the earth wasnt created. Lots of things make sounds even though no one hears them. Sound is defined by the actual sound waves not by the act of hearing it. It will be created regardless if there is someone to hear it or not.

no because space has no molecules so there is no sound in space but u can see it but u cant hear it cause spsace is a vacum i said it twice dont copy me guys this was a ggod thought im on fire today
