Power of Prayers? In a small mid-western conservative town,?!


Question: a new bar started to open up their business in a building. The local Baptist church started a campaign to block the bar from opening, with petitions and prayers. Work progressed, however, right up till the week before opening, when a lightning struck and the building along with the bar burned down to the ground.
The church folks were rather smug in their outlook after that, till the bar owner sued the church on the grounds that the church was, thorugh its prayers and congregations, ultimately responsible for the demise of his building, either through direct or indirect actions or means. The church vehemently denied all responsibility or any connection to the demise of the building, in its reply to the court.
As the case made its way into court, the judge looked over the paperwork at the hearing and commented:

Was it the power of prayer or their minds?

However, if it were the power of prayer, it sure is sad the church people deny praying.

If God knows all things, don't you think He would have known what they were gonna do, then not grant them their prayer request!

Of course, maybe, just for fun, He wanted to see the town with some laughter instead of hypocrites and knowing what they would do granted their request.
